Portrait Drawings, Pen Sketches of Women

September 29th, 2007 · No Comments

These two artworks are portrait drawings of women’s faces. They were sketched in pen, and water was used to wash and blur the lines in some areas. Each portrait features the women’s hair covering one eye, which helps to evoke a slight sense of mystery in the subject. The first drawing also includes sunglasses, with the reflective sheen blurring focus over her eye. Each portrait drawing was first sketched in black pen, with minimal lines used to define the eyes, nose, and mouth. Hair was inked in a little more aggressively, and then a water wash was used to fill in shadows and give shape, form, and volume to the portraits.
