This portrait / character study was created with watercolor, markers, pens, and crayon.

Here is a close up detail of the face. I think I like the close up details more than the full size images. For one, the detail is better, and the compositions are more eye catching too.

I painted this character with very light watercolors at first, and surrounded him with an irregular black line. After considering throwing out the drawing, I decided to just push the color harder and threw in some marker and paint pen squiggles. I painted over almost everything a couple of times, experimenting with the layers. I must say the colors and shapes that happen on accident are much more interesting than my intended strokes.
