This is a drawing / painting of a Chihuahua, created in 2008 with Pen, Ink, Markers, Paint Pens, and Watercolor mediums. The artwork is approximately 9″x12″, and expresses the energy and vibrancy of the Chihuahua dog breed through frantic line work and bold colors in a slightly abstract impressionistic style. The pervasive white background breathes consistency through the entire drawing / painting and helps to maintain a sense of fragility and lightness. Meanwhile the pup’s darkly colored eyes reflect the strength and determination of this unique animal.
This is a portrait drawing of a girl created with pen and water. A black pen was used to sketch her eyes in detail, and wispy lines suggest features like a nose, mouth, and hair. A brush with water was used to soften the stark lines around each striking facial feature. Larger areas of grey shadow, created with diluted pen ink, help to add volume to her hair. Much of the canvas was left untouched in order to convey a light and delicate atmosphere that allows the drawing to breath amidst her concerted yet distant stare.

This is an oil pastel drawing of an ocean seascape at sunrise. The oil pastel medium lends itself to smudging and smearing techniques, as well as scraping away layers to reveal colors underneath. The drawing also reflects an impressionistic style with a little bit of chaotic line work, noticeable in the clouds and water. The suggestion of dirt, rocks, sand, and a palm tree begin to frame and weight the artwork as well.
