Marker Drawing of a Girl

April 28th, 2007 · 4 Comments

This marker drawing of a girl’s face is one of the more refined portrait art works I created. I drew it in the year 2004 and the size of the art is approximately 8″ x 5″. I used markers that come in varying shades of grey to build up the girl’s face in layers, leaving the white of the paper for the highlights. Part of the initial sketch was drawn in pen, which can still be seen in the shadows and hair.

Three Watercolor Portraits

April 15th, 2007 · 6 Comments

These three watercolor portraits are 5″ x 3″ and were painted with cool, vibrant colors. Each piece of art is a portrait of a man, featuring primarily blue or purple hues. Although one of the portraits has more background color than the others, they all make use of the white space of the paper to create unique lighting effects.

This small 4″ x 6″ piece of colorful abstract surrealism art was created with a variety of paint markers and pens. The abstract surrealist style portrays a number of thoughts and ideas through the use of color, shapes, and texture. The patterns are energetic and vibrant, all working together to form a structured, and random, composition.

Portrait of Woman with Hat

April 9th, 2007 · 2 Comments

This portrait of a woman wearing a hat was drawn with pen and ink in the year 2004. It is roughly 8″ x 5″. The light on the woman was striking and bright, and high contrasting shades of black, white, and grey are used throughout the art. The lines are fairly loose, and allow the drawing to breath and work with the stark white background.

Abstract Art | Black and Red

April 8th, 2007 · 1 Comment

These two abstract works of art were created in 2004 and are roughly 2′ x 3′. They were painted with tempera and feature dark black and red swirling colors. There is a heavy energy running through the art signifying an expressionist style. And the abstract nature of the pieces, with alternating dark and light colors, helps to pull the viewer into the swirling mass of paint.
